What water does this machine require?
LUCCA hasn't published a limit our check can use for this machine yet, so the check can't give it a result. Whatever the maker does say is quoted below.
Shown, but not used to decide (1)
- Total hardness, at most 5 gpg (85.6 mg/L as CaCO3, our conversion). Guidance the maker gives as an ideal, a recommendation or a care tier, not as a limit. The maker's words for Total hardness.
Will my water work with this machine?
Add your water from a test strip, a report or your city's numbers, and we'll check it against the maker's limits above. It stays in this browser.
The maker's water guidance
From LUCCA (Clive Coffee)'s guidance for this model.
Softened water: up to 5 gpg
“We recommend using a water softener if you get a measurement above 85 parts per million (PPM) or 5 grains per gallon (GPG).”
Water type: at least 35 ppm
“Some mineral content (above 35 PPM) is necessary for the best-tasting espresso and for the machine to run without overfilling the boilers.”
Very pure water
“Do not use Zero water or reverse osmosis, as the machine will not register that the reservoir has been filled. If you do use reverse osmosis or distilled water, you must remineralize it.”
Water type
“The machine must be operated with soft, filtered drinking water introduced in the water reservoir.”
